The Federal Housing Corporation (FHC) is a state-owned enterprise recently being re-organized by the Council of Ministers Regulation No. 398/2017. It has six branch offices (Five in Addis Ababa and One in Dire Dawa). It had been operating for more than 40 years under different company names until March 2017. The Corporation has a mandate to construct, cause to contract, rent out, sell or buy up on special decision houses that may be used for different services. Moreover, it devises modern management systems which enable effective administration of federal government houses and implement same.

The Corporation currently administers more than 20,000 Government Houses out of which 125 are rented by international diplomats. The Federal Housing Corporation’s housing units comprise of highly diverse set of real properties distributed all over Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa Cities. The type of housing units include multistory residential and commercial properties, warehouses, market stalls, shopping malls, residential villas, partitioned dwellings and commercial spaces, garages, offices and more.

The housing units are administered under the six Branches of FHC. The Market Value of the Corporation’s properties, as of 2022, is estimated to be more than ETB 200 billion. Moreover, the Corporation owns sizable plots of land in prime areas of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa.

FHC has a strong corporate project management. This strong leadership quality has helped to bring a real change in the Corporation in the last few years. Although it is only 4 years since it has been established, the Corporation has shown remarkable achievements in implementation of housing development projects and also in improving housing administration through meticulous planning and execution of a holistic organizational reform.

Currently the Corporation is undertaking construction of multipurpose apartment buildings at 12 different sites located at prime areas in the Capital City. The construction in five sites is successfully completed in less than two years. Out of these projects, Gerji modern village is a large and self-contained residential complex whose construction is carried out by using aluminum formwork building technology. This contributed to the construction industry in terms of introducing a new technology which enables massive improvements in the safety, efficiency and productivity of large-scale construction projects.

The corporation was also able to increase its annual revenue by seven-fold within 4 years’ time, from ETB 300 million in 2017 to ETB 2.3 Billion in 2022, which enables it to generate finance for its housing development projects.

የፌደራል ቤቶች ኮርፖሬሽን በአዲስ አበባ እና በድሬደዋ ከተማ ውስጥ ለተለያዩ አገልግሎቶች የሚውሉ በርካታ ቤቶች፣ ህንጻዎችና ይዞታዎች ያሉት ሲሆን ከነዚህ በርካታ ቤቶችና ህንጻዎች መካከል እጅግ ረዥም አመታትን ያስቆጠሩ፣ ከዘመኑ የቤት ስታንዳርድ ጋር የማይሄዱና ዘመናዊነት የሚጎድላቸው፣ ውበታቸው የደበዘዘ ከመሆኑም በላይ የተሟላ አገልግሎት የማይሰጡና በከተማዋ ገጽታ ላይ አሉታዊ ተጽዕኖ የፈጠሩ ነበሩ፡፡
